1.Introduction

   This software is scanner driver for reading image data from 
   scanner of MFP device and scanning the data into 
   application software supporting TWAIN.

2.System requirements

Computer:
    PC-AT compatible machine
CPU:
    Same as specified for your operating system.
Memory (RAM):
    Same as specified for your operating system.
Hard Disk:
    20MB of available hard-disk space

    * The 32-bit (x86) and 64-bit (x64) editions of Windows are
      supported.
Network Environment:
    Settings for TCP/IP protocol and IPX/SPX protocol must be
    correctly configured.
Other requirements:
    An application software that complies with TWAIN standards
    must be installed.

3.Installing and Uninstalling the Application

   See the User's Guide.

4.Checking the Version in the Application

   Click [i] icon in the main dialog to display the information dialog.

5. Notes and Restrictions

  - When driver screen is displayed, exit the driver before 
    exiting the application.

  - The driver dialog, error message, etc. may appear behind 
    the application and then you cannot make the operation.  
    When this occurs, select the driver screen by using the task bar, 
    or press Alt and TAB key to move the driver screen to the 
    front and then operate.

  - There is a case which fails when updating the driver and occurs error 
    message "Error applying transforms. Verify that the specified transform 
    paths are valid". Please install again after uninstalling older version.

  - When the cancel button is pressed after scanning, cancellation might
    not be done according to the processing condition of PC.

  - When "User Account Control: Only elevate executables that are signed and
    validated" is enabled at Local Security Policy of Windows Vista, it is not
    possible to uninstall driver by using "Programs and Features" of Control
    Panel.
    To uninstall driver, disable "User Account Control: Only elevate
    executables that are signed and validated" at Local Security Policy of
    Windows Vista, or use "setup.exe" in CD which is used at installation
    of driver.

  - You may be charged if scanning is cancelled due to cancel, error, or other
    in the scanning.

  - The products described in "2. System Requirements" may not be available
    or the product names may differ in some countries and regions.


 (Cautions and restrictions with specified applications)

 <Adobe Acrobat 6>
   - Scanner driver may stop while scanning. This problem may be resolved
     by upgrading Acrobat to version 7, 8, 9 or X.
     ([Native Transfer] must be set in Scan Transfer Settings
     when you select Acrobat 8)

 <Adobe Acrobat 6/7>
   - When the documents consisting of different page sizes are scanned, 
     they may not be scanned into application normally.
     In such case, scan them without mixing different page sizes.
   - When an original whose length is 17 inches or more is scanned, 
     it may not be scanned correctly into application.

 <Microsoft Office 2000>
   - When the documents consisting of different page sizes are scanned,
     they may not be scanned into application normally.  
     In such case, scan them without mixing different page sizes.

   - With Word2000/Excel2000, when the scanning is specified within 
     the large range such as A4, it is not likely to be able to scan. 

 <Microsoft Office 2003(SP1/SP2)/2007/2010>
   - Image may not be scanned in correct colors.
     If this phenomenon occurs, it may be solved by scanning again.

   - The mode which executes scanning directly from a scanner driver
     was newly implemented.
   - Image Control Function was added.
   - Adobe Acrobat X is supported.
   - The following operation systems are supported.
       Windows XP Professional x64 Edition    (SP2 or later)
       Windows Vista Home Basic               (SP2 or later)*
       Windows Vista Home Premium             (SP2 or later)*
       Windows Vista Business                 (SP2 or later)*
